Lions Christmas Food Collection

Friday 9th and Saturday 10th December 2011

The Lions Club of Christchurch asked shoppers to purchase 'An extra tin, for OUR bin' whilst doing their shopping at Sainsburys. Over the 2 days we collected a lot of food, but the collection was well down on previous years. Luckily many people who had forgotten to purchase a tin but money instead into our collection box, and we were able to use this money, together with funds from our Charity account, to top up!

We made up 125 large Sainsbury carrier bags full of food, and these were distributed to individuals and families in need in Christchurch.

Annual Duck Race & Fun on the Quomps

On August Bank Holiday Monday, Lions Club of Christchurch along with many helpers organised the Annual Charity Duck Race and the fete on the Quomps. Over 2,000 duck tickets were sold , and at 4pm the Millstream was full of happy people cheering on their little yellow ducks.

The Mayor of Christchurch Cllr. Sue Spittle and the Lions Club President Barrie Kenyon launched the ducks into the water. This year progress down the Mill Stream was slow, but eventually the first three ducks arrived at the finishing line. Winning numbers were:

1st - 0227

2nd - 1556

3rd - 0686.

The race winners cash prizes were generously donated by Keith Motors, of Christchurch .
